Two-day workshop to focus on good governance, RTI




A TWO-DAY western region workshop on "Good Governance" with special focus on Right to Information (RTI) will be organised jointly by Transparency International (Gujarat Chapter) and Gandhi Labour Institute at GLI premises in Ahmedabad on April 12-13.

Director General, GLI, Arunkumar Sutaria said on Friday that about 90 participants from five western region States - Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Goa - would participate in two-day workshop. Information Commissioners, Lokayuktas and Vigilance Commissioners from these States have been invited to participate in workshop. Gujarat State Vigilance Commissioner Ashok Narayan will chair a session on "Good Administration and Vigilance" during the two-day brain-storming deliberations, while State Information Commissioner R N Das will share his experiences with the participants on how the provisions of the RTI Act are being implemented in Gujarat.
The main objective of the workshop is to create awareness among people on RTI Act, and also to inform them about how to reduce corruption in all strata of society through effective and corruption-free administration. Representatives of the Transparency International will present the "World Corruption Report" at the workshop, Sutaria said.
