Nominated Politics

So far I'm aware of the Pro-Active disclosure campaign being promoted by this forum and that alone. Are there any others? Please let me know.

Getting around to the topic of the thread, I was reading a thread started by Shri HK Dubey ji, What Reasonable asiastance means under section 5.3

It starts with one thing but however the topic of initial discussion has totally been neglected and leads on to a discussion about the political system of India and the corrupt politicians. It talks of how the CM is corrupt and so are his ministers etc. It thus gave me a thought (maybe in the right direction). Though Im not very good with politics and barely understand the setup, but from what I can remember of the elementary civics taught to me in school, certain number of seats in the rajya sabha lok sabha and any other sabha (how many are there?) certain number of seats are reserved as nominated. These nominated seats are given to people who have excelled in one field or the other. I would thus like to frame up an RTI application seeking details into this. The once Presidential seat hopeful Al Gore has done so much for environment and was accordingly awarded Nobel Peace prize. I do not remember or atleast am unaware of any MP/MLA (or any other elected seats if any) having won some sort of an achievement award, atleast not in the present times.

So, i request the honourable members of this forum to help me put up an RTI application which I could file (provided parliament in under RTI, is it??). This would seek a list of people who were nominated, who were tehy nominated by, what were their accomplishments and so on and on. Which of these were selected and thus nominated into the house and why were they favoured over the others.

Now, can that be done?? Would the parliament or any other house be bound to provide this info??

A step towards better India!

Re: Nominated Politics

Note to moderators:
I have observed that threads started under the "RTI India > RTI Community Support > Ask for Framing an RTI Question" often fail to incite response from members and are generally pushed down. It would be nice if a mechanism could be devised to ensure that this does not happen. Maybe you could have a dedicated team of people for this section alone (eg: such as you have community builders etc). Just a thought!

Continuing from above post:
I would request the members to help me frame the queries. Each member contributing may please number his question serially.

Q1: Kindly provide me with a list of all nominated seats in the Rajya sabha and Lok sabha and their present occupants.

Q2: Kindly provide me with a copy of their nomination papers.

Q3: ....

please contribute...
