Iam a graduate from andhra university. Just few days back only I know about RTI act, where it was started two years back. A graduate like me living in the financial and industrial capital of andhra pradesh i.e., in vizag didn't have much knowledge about RTI act, what about 70% population living in villages all over the country. Do something guys , for the sake of country men. Then only the mission would be successful. India means not only delhi, calcutta and other metros. India means villages consists of eighty crore people i.e., double the american plus european countries population. |

I do not believe that the popular news papers circulating in Vizak did not appropriately cover "Right to InformationAct" in last 3 years and a graduate did not get an opportunity to read the news. If the educated segment of our population shunt away from the news on what is happening in our country, nothing can be done to them. |

Actially it was the duty of GOVT to advertise the holy RTI ACT 05. But the govts did not want the citizens to get the informations & then create headache to govt deptts. That is why only 1 % of population is familiar with RTI Act even after 3 years. Some activists are educating ; but it is not sufficient. We all must press the govt to disseminate the RTI act throgh out the country. |

My experience with my local morning daily would make me say that a news related to RTI makes it to the front page at least once a week. I wonder if government could do anything more than this. Of course it could be argued that the act be thought in schools etc, but then mere knowledge of the act would hardly suffice. A person has to know his rights to enable him to use RTI. A simple case would be that of a daily wages worker. There is no use of telling him about RTI unless he does not know about the existence of the Minimum Wages Act, or the Trades Union Act etc etc etc. Knowledge is for those who seek it. Those that dwell in the dark are exceptionally skilled at blowing out candles (such as in the above case where a citizen failed to read the morning daily). The information was made available to him, but he blew the candle out! |

Exacty. Anyone who has an iota of interest to know what is happening in our country know the enactment of the RTI Act. Even if the government advertise it in the newspapers again daily for one month, how a graduate not interested in reading the newspaper will know about it ? |
