| I am tired of being pulled over by the cops. I want to know my rights and my laws; I know i know ignorance of the law aint an excuse... but hear me out.. I got pulled over for speaking on the phone while driving. My plea to the cop was Handsfree but they still didnt heed. Another time i got pulled over coz i didnt have my insurance renewed paper, he saw it and said it was incomplete, another time for xerox of licence. I need to know if there is a law where i can ask the cop to produce documents which clearly state if this is missing you can ask for a fine. I think i am right with the handsfree part, you cant fine ppl using handsfree but the cop wont listen... so my question would be: Is it illegal to use handsfree and drive around in glorious Bangalore? Is there any law by which i can ask the traffic cop to produce proof of his take on the law.. e.g. cop says handsfree is illegal, can i ask him to produce documentation for the same? Any help would be appreciated |

You can actually forgo the chance of paying the challan at the Police Station. Then you will be required to present yourself before the Magistrate whos name would have been mentioned on the challan. The date and time for hearing would also have been written on the challan. Then argue your case in front of the magistrate and let us know what happens then. Please note, even if the magistrate asks you to pay the fine, then still only the same amount of fine will be applicable. Hardly makes any difference thus. So you could actually set things right by doing this. Any case, do let us know when and what happens. |
