Officer plans a "Samal" Hyderabad, Oct. 30: Senior IAS officer and managing director of State warehousing corporation Md. Shafiquizzaman is all set to file a contempt case against the State government for failing to provide him with details of the IAS officers on whom the government had either dropped investigation or prosecution. This move will be unprecedented. "General Administration Department has been directed by the State Information Commission to provide the list of IAS officers on whom the Anti Corruption Bureau had conducted enquiries and recommended action within 30 days. Till date they have not responded," said Mr Shafiquizzaman.
Responding to the complaint by the officer under Right to Information Act, chief commissioner C.D. Arha directed the General Administration Department on September 29, to submit the list of officers within 30 days. Earlier, the General Administration Department had rejected Mr Shafiquizzaman's request on the grounds that the information sought for cannot be furnished as it termed the ACB information as "classified".
The officer said the General Administration Department wing was now stating that it did not possess the information sought. "This is outright contempt of the statutory body like Information Commission," pointed out the officer. "What can be the motive behind this concealment? It is an attempt to save some corrupt officers," said Mr Shafiquizzaman. He asserted that his struggle would continue till the list of "corrupt officers" is made public. City News |
