Tenant Registration

Hello Friends,

this is my first post on RTI. A brief introduction of myself. I have been staying in andheri East for the past 48 yrs. in the same building. It's a tenanted property. I wish to know if :
1) there is any Tenant Registration Authority where the tenants can register themselves.
2) How does this Registration help them and what rights are conferred upon them as Registered tenants.

Would be grateful if proper guidance is provided in this regard.
