DELAY AT CIC/SICs-EFFECT

As on today, there is inordinate delay at CIC and most of SICs. The effect of such delay is that citizen are losing faith in RTI also. Those who need information urgently, they are compelled to "BUY" it, as it used to happen in pre-RTI period. Even if one waits indefinitely and undertakes cumbersome and expensive procedure of second appeal or complaint, he is not sure if he will get the information or that PIO/FAA will be pulled up to avoid repetition in future. If no corrective measures are taken urgently, Information Commissions will be just like subordinate courts and govt offices.

You are very much right , sir. Some NGOs & groups are fighting for the right . these alongwith all concerned citizens may plan 'candle march' in Delhi. Then only we can hope some improvements in working of the I.Cs /PIOs / govts etc.

when PIO and FAA authorities are penalised for delay in furnishing infomation in the stipulated time of 30 days then I think there must be time frame for disposing the cases for SIC/CIC The SIC/CIC should be penalised if there is a delay in disposing the cases, any excuses should not be accepted

There should also be certain time schedule for the disposal of appeals/ complaints at the level of CIC/ SIC; otherwise the objective of this important act will be defeated. When 5/30/45 days schedule has been formulated in earlier stages , why it will not be done in case of CIC and SIC ?
