| If its a PA certainly you can ask for the information. But make sure exactly what you want and phrase out your application properly, clearly indicating the period etc. |

an employee has the right to inspect his service record and get to know all service particulars including leave record from the date of joining to till date. in government offices, employee can ask for his service record and go through it. in private sector, record keeping may not be upto standards. |

Since we are talking about RTI Act, I presume the case pertain to a government servant. I fail to understand as to how the doubt arose in such a simple and basic issue. Service book or record of service is maintained for every government servant both central and state. All important aspects of one's service, like, pay, promotion, earned/ medical/extraordinary leave records are properly kept in the register as these factors affects one's promotion and pension. It is not at all a confidential records. Public servants are required to sign it periodically as proof of its correctness. Of course casaul leave not being cumulative and not a right as such is not recorded in it. I am surprised as to what stopped Sri.Murali V Mohan or the concerned public servant from walking into the Establishment section of his office and seeking the data. I personally do not appreciate anyone intiating an RTI application to his office to know his leave account unless there is sufficient reason for it. Of cource, if the issue pertains to private sector, Sri. snkmoorthy has answered it. Last edited by colnrkurup; 01-14-2008 at 03:16 PM. |
