RTI helped my friend

I will be writing an RTI application today only.

In fact, I just wished to share with the group how inspiring others, I myself got motivated for doing my bit of contribution actively.

It started with my suggestion to my younger brother about RTI long ago (in March 2006) for the first time and passing on time to time any article I came across related to RTI- how to use the Act, success stories etc. etc.

Eventually, I found rtiindia.org this year while surfing on internet and the world was changed for me as I was able to get to know so much about what is ahppening around.
Incidentally, my younger brother filed a few applications in the span of last three months with passport office, ration card and pension department and got success (only in one case, he needed to apply for 1st appeal for further clarity). All these applications were related to our personal and family benefits.

Beaming with these successes, last fortnight, while I was just discussing all this with one of my colleagues at my workplace, he asked me to help him to seek some clarification with HAL, Bangalore.

He had applied for some vacant engineering position in the department six months ago but was not able to get any further status on the application or the recruitment. Needless to mention the number of telephone calls and effort he had made.

We drafted the application and submitted last week. This morning, he has rec'd letter from HAL and he is so happy. He thanked me again and again for introducing him to RTI.

And, for the first time I realised how I was really wasting time not applying for so many matters lying here and there, problems many people are facing.
Now for sure, I will be spreading the awareness among the people who are not connected thru' internet or other means of update on RTI, AND of course thru' the help of this great website www.rtiindia.org.

Best wishes,
Jitendra

Re: RTI helped my friend

Jitendra,

Please spread the word amongst your family, relations, friends, colleagues, workers and anyone else who will care to listen.

The number of "blessings" and "long life" you will receive, from people whom you introduce and help using RTI effectively, will not only humble you but also give you a great sense of satisfaction. One can always start with small personal issues like Passport, Ration card or PDS, etc. but slowly and surely you will get confidence in raising more public spirited issues.

Moreover, rtiindia.org will be a source of great knowledge for you. There are so many matters in this country to learn about. Honestly, I have gained more from this forum than I have given.

If you need a ready made presentation to introduce general audiences to RTI, I have a ready made one in English uploaded here:

Wish you all the Best in your RTI journey !
