Hi All - I joined RTI India sometime mid January 2011 and followed all the instructions and format for filing for RTI. Believe me or not i had both AY 2008-09, AY 2009-10 years Refund pending amounting to appr Rs. 26,000. Within a week, I got a call from the Income Tax dept saying they are in receipt of the request and will process it at the earliest. They asked me a few questions regarding bank account, Form 16 etc. Within 30 days of filing the RTI, I have both the refund in my bank account. Thanks to RTI. This wouldnt have happened without them. I would advice you all to have TRUST, just follow whats been guided here, use the template to file your letter, address to right dept, send with all applicable proofs like ITR -V and Form 16, cancelled cheque leaf showing your Bank account no, Swift code, etc. Send via Speed post with acknowledgement due. Pls share your feedback, experience on this site when you receive your refund, to encourage many more people who are caught up and donno how to proceed.
