Application rejected as per section 8(1)(e) & 8(1)(j) of RTIA, 2005

    Dear sir,

I had filed RTI at EPFO, Hyderabad to know the status of my own PF accumulations transfer from my previous employer in Bhubaneswar to present employer in Hyderabad. I had asked for following information: Date of transfer, Transfer amount, Interest paid etc. I had also attached the copy of Form-13 A(R) with the application.

The application was rejected with below mentioned reasons:
" The applicant is informed that EPFO is a Trust. The EPF balances are financial and personal information of the members concerned. Therefore, without confirming the identity the information can not be disclosed unless competent authority is satisfied that the larget public interest is warrants. The application has not shown explicitly any such interest while submitting applicaiton. Hence the application is rejected as per section 8(1)(e) & 8(1)(j) of RTIA, 2005. "

Is it a good reason for rejection of my application, as I am asking for my own account details, not of anyone else? I want to file an appeal for this. Please guide me on this.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Asish

File First Appeal attaching proof of your identity and other annexures required for a regular first appeal . There is no point in arguing with PIO as it will consume almost similar amount of time and even more resources .

If the PIO is located in your city or within easily approachable distance , then you may meet the PIO with your Identity proof before filing FA .

the PIO is wrong if your application was complete with your name and signatures .
