Executive engineer, director fined Rs 25K each 23 Sep 2008, 0354 hrs IST,TNN An executive engineer of Bhagalpur will have to cough up a fine of Rs 25,000 for violation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The fine amount would be deducted from his salary in four equal instalments. Issuing an order to this effect on Monday, the State Information Commission (SIC) found the engineer guilty of not responding to the application of one Dr Amit Kumar who had sought certain information under RTI. SIC fixed December 15 as the next date of hearing and directed the erring official to be present with an explanation. In yet another order, SIC slapped a fine of the same amount on an assistant director of Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa. In this case, the applicant was one Ranju Kumari. While the case would again be taken up for hearing on December 15, the fine would be deducted from the university official’s salary in four equal instalments.
