RTI Training Session - Pune

RTI Training Session

Training session on RTI was conducted on September 24 at IT Department of Indira Management Institute, Wakad Pune. The audiences were MCA students who try their hands on technology applications and had earlier undergone training session on E-Governance in India.

The training module included 5W & 1H (What, When, Who, Where, Why and How) of The RTI Act 2005. Students were exposed to various definitions, their meanings, sample application, procedure, fees, cost of information, timelines, appeals, sections, penalties, and related aspects. Interesting query from students included issues like hardship faced by them while driving two-wheeler with registration number of other states and corruption on roads.

Session was conducted by freelance writer and management faculty, Avinash Murkute, who has invoked various provisions of RTI on several occasions. Students were provided case studies and published success stories.

Regards,
Avinash Murkute

If we are giving the education of RTI we are making him educated to be transparent. This is need of heaven.

I believe KC College Bombay is providing 2 day course on RTI for any one who is interested. The fee is Rs 2000 and first batch cleared last month as per TOI. It may be worthwhile to conduct similar course in Pune

Regards

2000/- Rupees for two days course on RTI?? Seems too commercial to me.

"RTI India" is a best place to learn all about RTI Act and its practical applications "FREE OF COST". Expert faculties and grass root activist of RTI at RTI India are always eager to help you with any query about RTI.

May be Kushal and team will think of an "On-line Interactive Course on RTI". I will be the fisrt student to join (and may be last one to pass).

I agree with Dr.Prashant, Rs.2000/- for two days, seems too commercial to me too. I can see Khusal Sir's eyes already brightened up. What say Sir? You can share some booty with us too! LOL.

Re: RTI Training Session - Pune

I am dreaming of publishing success stories which can be attributed to RTI. Not sure how to go further. May be other members can inspire and motivate. The idea is to publish RTI success stories which brought change, which affected communities, which affected villages, which helped country. Rather than focussing on personal sucess stories, such handbook will motivate demotivated fraternity. Should we solicit published / non-published success stories.

Regarding Trainings and Teaching: Education will soon get industry status. So should teaching be commercial activity? Everyone needs training. Even trainers need trainings. That's why we have Train The Trainers programs. RTI training is very useful in villages, blocks and panchayats. Both for citizens and PIO.

Thanking you.

I agree with you regarding publishing success stories. That will definitely inspire and guide people.

However, being a teacher myself, I do not agree with your thoughts of "industrialisation" of education. If we do that only reach people will have access to knowledge, which is a fundamental right of all - reach and poor alike. Seeking profit opportunities in all aspects of life is not a healthy sign and is detrimental to forming a healthy society in future.

I respect your thoughts. I have experienced difference between IIM & ITI. (Not IIT). The true devlopment will come with development of Rural India. This Rural India may not have access to Internet, Blogs, Mailing lists, Opinions etc. One has to drown himself for the cause.

Its long debatable topic. The conclusion - The Fruits of RTI should reach to grass root. That reminds me - in year 2000, I was told by BSNL CMD, that Internet is only for Urban India and Internet is illegal in Rural India. Sounds great!

The cheapest way to reach rural India in future would be through the advances of IT. The things are changing faster than one would imagine. I think BSNL CMD will be proved wrong very soon.

Having legitimate and reasonable profit is accepted, however, "Ye Dil Mange More" policy will lead to what has happened to 'Lehman' just this week!!

Spelling correction in my last post "Reach" please read as "Rich".
