i am running a society which is working for the awakning of the masses regarding rti .my question is can a secretary of society ask information under rti .In some csaes i face problem that secretary is not acitizen please help if any land mark judgement.

The CIC and SICs have had divided opinion about this matter. It is better to avoid writing as a secretary. Write the application on plain paper and get it signed by an individual.
Documents received under RTI can be produced as evidence and getting it filed by secretary does not add to its reliability.

Secretary of Society can apply for information under RTI on Society's Letter head, provided the information is only in relation to the matters concerning the Society affairs.
(2) Only citizen of India can be secretary of a Co-operative Society

It is better to apply for information in the name of an individual, to avoid confusion.

Presently PIO's are looking for ways to avoid giving information, and you are porviding him with an issue on the platter.

Let the PIO look for some other reason to avoid giving the information, rather than give him an easy way out.
