Punjab CIC directs PIO, Mata Gujri College to furnish information within 10 days
FATEHGARH SAHIB: Chief Information Commissioner(CIC) R.I. Singh has directed Public Information Officer(PIO) of SGPC run Mata Gujri College(MGC), Fatehgarh Sahib to furnish information within 10 days.
It may be mentioned here that two retired teachers of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee run Mata Gujri College(MGC), Fatehgarh Sahib- Prof. Naresh Kumar Gupta and Prof. Sital Singh Tiwana had sought information from PIO, MGC pay fixation with effect from(w.e.f) January 1, 2006 till the date of their retirement.
Both the retired teachers had sought separate information in their separate cases. During the recent hearing of the case both the retried teachers presented before CIC R.I. Singh and on behalf of the college, the college representative Karam Singh and on behalf of DPI(College), Punjab its representative appeared before the CIC in both the cases.
Karam Singh submitted before the CIC in both the cases that the college have not received original RTI request, which was addressed to the Director Public Instructions (Colleges), Punjab but the representative of DPI (Colleges) stated that numbers of letters were written to the Principal of the College, as the information is in their(College) custody so it is to be supplied by the PIO of Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib. The Chief Information Commission directed the PIO
of DPI(Colleges) to place on record the copies of the letters written by it to the principal of Mata Gujri College vide which they were directed to furnish the information. R.I. Singh also directed the PIO of the college to furnish the information within 10 days. Next date of hearing of both the cases in October 17.
It may be mentioned here that during the last hearing of the both the cases before the CIC, the college had submitted that pay fixation was done by the office of the DPI (Colleges) and so-far DPI has not conveyed any pay fixation order in respect of retired teachers Naresh Kumar Gupta and Sital Singh Tiwan . After hearing the college argument, the CIC during last hearing of the case had observed that keeping in view the stand of the college that they have not received any order from the DPI, it would be appropriate to call DPI as a party. Following the CIC orders, a notice was issued to the PIO, DPI (Colleges), who appeared before the CIC during recent hearing of the case.
