Finally got my EPF refund :)

I applied for my PF withdrawal last year when I resigned from my company. I waited for around an year to get any status / updates on my PF withdrawal status. When few of my friends went to Bandra PF office to know their status they asked about mine also. Everyone got a common response from the PF department that "Our systems are getting upgraded and it might come in few months".

This was the response to all my friends whoever went to Bandra PF office. I decided not to go there and waste my precious time asking for status to people who didn't care to respond seriously.

I planned to file a RTI to get the status of my withdrawal application. Went through jps50's blogs on and registered on this forum to know the procedure to file an RTI.
When I got the PF withdrawal form format from RTIIndia.org & jps50's blog which is a very detailed application, I just entered my details in that form and attached a 10Rs Postal Order and send it to the Bandra PF office.
There wasn't any response on my RTI application for a month after my application. I was getting worried and started reading blogs and procedure to file 1st appeal. I knew that I should wait 40 days to get a response for any RTI and I did so.

On the 38th day to my surprise there was a message from my bank account that there was a message from my CitiBank account that there has been a transfer from EPF to me. I was really happy that I got my amount and that too after filing an RTI. But I was very confused as I didn't get any reply for my RTI application with the queries I mentioned in the RTI application. This the reply which I got for my RTI application after 15 days of the amount transfer. This reply from PF office didn't answer any of my questions mentioned in the RTI application and just said that my amount has been transferred:

When my friends saw that I received my PF amount they were also eager to file similar RTI. I gave them my format and asked them to just replace the account number with theirs.
One of my friend personally went to PF office to check the status and this is the conversation he had with the lady in the PF office there:

Friend: Madam my PF withdrawal has not been received. I filed it last year and here is the acknowledgement for it.
PF office Madam: Our systems are getting upgraded and you will receive your money in few months.
Friend: But madam one of my friend got his PF withdrawal amount last week.
PF office Madam: That is not possible we haven't given money to anyone yet in last few months.
Friend: But madam he got it last week.
PF office Madam: What is his name.
Friend: Rohan Nalawade (this is me ).
PF office Madam: Yes I remember. That guy filed an RTI and it forced us to worked. Some people are foolish and they do things which is not at all required.

My friend just smiled went downstairs and filed and RTI himself for his PF withdrawal.

I know this is a very big post but I am very happy that I received the amount and thanks to this forum which helped a lot to educate people like me who knew very few things about RTI.

Wow... this is encouraging news. I think you should pursue this till you get your answers. That will teach them who is foolish!

I just hope it does not take 38 days in my case...
