Someone has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on this matter - RTI and CPA.

On page 5 of the so called PIL (which is even not in the format of a PIL), the petitioner (Gareeb Guide International) has selectively (incompletely) quoted the definition of "Service" in the CPA, while it has exhaustively quoted the Sections 18, 19 & 20 of the RTI Act 2005.

Secondly, In both the Decisions of the NCDRC, while in the first case, RTI Applicant has been declared as Consumer, in the Second Case it is the Complainant (under RTI Act) has been declared as NOT a Consumer.

The action of Gareeb Guide International seems to be motivated as this organization itself is seems to be a PA and want the earlier decision of the NCDRC revoked by all means.

Some one has to pitch in to widen the scope of the of the present so called PIL dated 20 January 2012 (if at all it is admitted) to put fourth the side of Information Consumers.

Thirdly, there seems to be no such orders dated 14.09.2010 in appeal No. 1163/10 of the State Commission Karnataka, in existence as the same could not be traced anywhere.

Sorry. for being Johny came lately to this thread. Greatest and most laudable efforts of Doctorsaab as well as all you guys. This shall come in handy to me in one of my impending case under RTI where I intend to seek compensation and costs from the public authority and 15 of its PIOs to whom the application has been transferred. I shall upload the decision in my case on this page or success stories, i.e. if I achieve it with the help of the information/s in this thread and I am sure I shall succeed. I concur with Bhanot Sahib [ post #33] . It reminds all of us of need to verify Judgments and Orders before using the same . Internet is full of bugs and moles .
