Passport success through RTI Tool

It is my pleasure to express deep gratitude to this RTI Forum which guided to arrive and succeed in solving Passport Application Process issues using RTI.

It was in the month of March 2011 i had applied for new Passport . After the usual systematic!! slow process of concerned Government authorities, my Passport application was finally struck at Bangalore Passport office awaiting for final process and dispatch.

An insight into the process and working of Passport office provided me nothing but complicated systems, slow process modules, non reachable higher authorities who are supposed to answer my issue.

Below are the few points i noted while trying to avail my Passport in time.

• I was shocked to know it is normal for a Passport application to be struck for one year.
• The Online passport grievance addressing system is complete failure in addressing the issues.
• Emails and phones numbers given at website and other places are for fancy purpose only and does not answer anyone usually.
• Passport Adalat held at Passport office was trying to answer the issues of Applications that was pending since year and i do not qualify to be answered in the Adalat !!!
• Passport agents and the other people whom i approached were clueless and helpless in this regard and so was i.

Finally in August 2011, i used the RTI template posted in this forum. I choose to apply the RTI application through Postal Department.To my surprise even the head post master suggested that RTI tool would not be of any help for which i answered with a confident smile.

I am happy to share with you members that i have been granted with the new Passport within 30 days of filing RTI Application.

I encourage all the Citizens to employ RTI act in solving similar issues.

PS: If you do visit that Post Office again - please take your passport and show it to the Head Post Master. Maybe he will also be convinced about the RTI power.
