Nahan mazdoor panchayat uses RTI, seeks details of foundry's merger

Nahan, October 8 The Nahan Foundry Mazdoor Panchayat has applied to
Director, Industries, Himachal Pradesh, who is also the MD of Nahan
Foundry, to provide details of the meeting of the high-power
committee, comprising of the foundry's Board of Directors, in which
the decision to transfer the property of HP PWD & IPH State workshop
and merge the foundry into the State Industrial Development
Corporation (SIDC) was taken.

The information has been sought by the panchayat's additional general
secretary Salim Ahmed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

He alleged that the director had prepared wrong documents and the
panchayat wanted to know the facts of the report so that legal steps
could be taken in the matter.

He said that it was most unfortunate that the functioning unit had
been reported as lying idle. He urged Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal
to reconsider his decision "which is based on wrong details".

He demanded that the chairperson of the committee and HP PWD engineers
be included in the investigations so that the truth could be brought
to the fore and correct action could be taken.
