Settlement of Deceased SB account from SBI Anantapur

Hi All,
My wife had an SBI account in SBI main branch anantapur.She expired last year leaving a balance amount less than 20000. I requested the branch authorities to settle the account by producing death and legal heir certificates etc. In spite of my repeated requests they reluctantly answer me that there is no nomination by looking into their PC and asked me to produce certain formats given by them which are very time consuming and costly and unnecessary. I immediately requested to send a photocopy of my wife's application under RTI and got it from the regional manager.Finally the bank authorities asked me to come to the branch along with the formats given by them.Even then they told that there is no entry of nomination in their pc. When i showed the application form sent by them through RTI which had the nominee details given by my wife while opening the account,immediately they agreed to settle the account and issued the cheque on the same day and thus I got the amount settled into my account.This is a common phenomeon adopted by the nationalised banks in most of the cases due to lack of proper entries in the pcs. The SBI bank authorities were lethergic in their response when i visited them for the first time and kept on insisting for the procedure to be followed which was given by them without justification. The customers are put to hardship and delay in getting the accounts settled in respect of deceased customers. So, in case if any one has the same issue plz take help of RTI through which u can awaken the lethergic empolyees of SBI.
