Hello there, We are requesting the registrar department since many months to provide RTI regarding a marriage which took place in 2005.We approached the office and after few days we rec'ed a phone call claiming himself to be registrar and said such marriage did not take place at his office although he didn't give any written information. We want to apply/appeal online regarding this as we want the information in writing to file a case. Please someone suggest how to and where to file/lodge complaint regarding obtaining the req'ed information. We strongly believe that the information is with that office and so they are supressing from coming out.I tried lodging through RTI website although I have to select the unioin ministry and couldn't go ahead as the departments I am looking for cannot be found. Thanx Deeksha |

deeksha, 1. As of now, there is no "online" system of filing RTI Applications. The site you refer to is for filing a RTI Application ONLY with the Central Information Commission (CIC) - and cannot be used for any other Public Authority. 2. You have the option of sending a RTI Application by email but that has to be followed up by a hard copy accompanied by the requisite application fees - to be sent by snail mail. 3. The information you want can be obtained by filing a RTI Application with the Registrar at the place where the Marriage took place. For help regarding how to draft a RTI application, how to submit, RTI Rules and Fees, etc., please refer to various articles available under the "All about RTI" section on the home page as well as the "Guide" section of the forum: RTI Guide 4. Just make sure that your RTI Application conforms to the RTI Rules for that particular State and is accompanied by the RTI fees (via the correct mode of payment) as prescribed in the Rules. The "Guide" section also has the RTI Rules for different States. 5. The following thread might also be of help to you: Quick Question |
