We are in Mumbai more than 500 metres from the sea/beach. We have been told that our building falls under CRZ 2 but we would like to file an RTI to see why this is the case. Does anyone know whom we can approach to clear this doubt? Thanks.      |

Welcome to this portal. U can visit bmc website and official website of state govt. If nothing works, pl file RTI appln with the PIO, office of Principal Secretary to Govt of Maharashtra, Nariman Point Mumbai. by refering to Mahrashtra RTI Rules - RTI Guide. Thank you for that information. But we were under the impression that for CRZ, we have to file with the central government in Delhi... maybe the Ministry of Environment and Forests? Does anyone know if this is correct? |

You can file your application to Maharashtra govt. Even if it pertains to Central Govt.. the PIO will give you whatever details he has on this records about the matter. In case the matter concern to other department within state he will forward the application to next authority and will inform you.

Please visit Govt. of Maharashtra site for details and look for RTI Act. For list of PIOs you can click here. Site seems to running slow. So you should have patience while browsing the site.

Thank you Dinesh. I wish the government websites were better but anyway, I will decifer the PDF documents that provide the PIO address in cryptic Hindi and will file the RTI |

Pl simultaneously file RTI appln with Central Govt Ministry of Environment by refering to India Image : a programme to establish Indian Governments' presence on the web and my blog at http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/...govt-info.html. If matter doesnot pertain to this ministry, it will redirect appln to concerned ministry in central govt under advice to U.

For maharashtra, if you do not get exact address, mail by registered ad post to State Public Information Officer, Office of Principal/Chief Secretary to Govt of Maharashtra, Nariman Point, MUMBAI 400021. U can also get address by refering to MTNL directory under Govt connections. He has to redirect to correct SPIO within 5 days of receipt of your appln by him, under advice to U.
