How can RTI help if my passport is being delayed because the police is sitting on my file
Hello, I recently got in touch with RTO, Kolkata and they told me that my file was with the police authority for verification of my temporary address. I was made to fill out the PP form and he assured me that my file would be cleared within 10 days. However, it has been over a month now and the passport status remains the same. How can RTI help me get information regarding this delay by the police authority. Please help !!!

Hi, thanks a lot jetley and jps50. http://rtiorissa.gov.in/ is the RTI site for Orissa. I need to get the PIO of the Police Department. Can you suggest which URL to follow as I am confused.

Thanks a lot Karira for the prompt reply. The http://bhubaneswarcuttackpolice.gov.in/verification.php says "(ii) Other Passport Offices of India :- Passport applications alongwith attestation forms are sent by Regional Passport Offices of states, other than Orissa, for verification. Such verifications are handled by the Verification Cell of Police Commissionerate Hdqrs., Bhubaneswar which processes them and sends it to the Police Station. On completion of verification, the concerned P.S returns the form to DCP Bhubaneswar/Cuttack, who, in turn, sends it to the Verification Cell, Commissionerate Hdqrs., Bhubaneswar for onward transmission to Passport Officer."
For temporary address verification under Cuttack jurisdication whom should I address the application. DCP Cuttack or Verification Cell, Bhubaneswar
