Need Help: Need information about RTI

I want to file a application by RTI for the Public toilets that is in my locality..as this is my first time using RTI, i want to know if i have to write a application in any department then to whoim shuld i address my application ?????

What INFORMATION you need about public toilets? In Mumbai these are under the control of the BMC. You can only seek information available in material form i.e. documents or samples etc. You cannot ask questions to them like "Why toilets are not cleaned daily?". Instead, you can seek information - supply me [1] certified copy of the contract awarded for cleaning and maintenance of Toilets in .................Square, ................... Road, ....................... area [2] List of staff responsible for supervision and certification of the work of cleaning and maintenance of Toilets in .................Square, ................... Road, ....................... area etc. You can pinpoint the toilet with structure (if written on that structure like building no, or toilet no. etc).

thnks for your reply..well i want to ask the Questions like In which year this toilet is constructed and by whom ?? what was the Expense for the Completion of that toilet ?? who is the care taker of that toilet as in BMC records and who provides the Funds to that care taker and how much ??? and first of all i need to know that this comes to BMC's "S" ward. so to whom should i address in my application ?? Pls guide me if i am wrong.

You should address the RTI Application to the Public Information Officer, BMC, DN Road, Mumbai 40001. You should not ask those questions, but seek information that contains answer to your questions. YOu can go to the PIO's Office and submit an application for inspection of records and find out much more details or documents that contain these information, if you are not able to identify the documents.

thnks..let me tell u the problem that the toilet in my locality is constructed 5 years back but opened 2 years back for public use but since it is opened all most 20 seats are not in working condition and no water supply in that. it is a 3 storey toilet. so can u help me what type of questions i should ask ???
