It is also known for transparency and fairness in matters related to admissions and examinations. However, the chaotic conditions witnessed at the Jamia Hamdard campus during the entrance tests this week were pathetic and uncharacteristic of the institution. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2>Unfortunately, a huge number of applicants neither get the admit cards delivered by post at their residences nor did they receive proper guidance to reach the campus. Many could not locate their seats at the centres mentioned in their admit cards and, therefore, had to run from pillar to post to find alternative places. </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2>Most of the question papers carried printing errors and, in the Common Entrance Test (CET) paper, not a single question was asked from physics. What was worse, the question papers were not brought to the examination halls in sealed covers. For this pathetic state of exam management, students cannot be sure that the confidentiality of papers was maintained till the last moment. </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2>The most damaging error relates to the test paper for the MCA, which has made the whole process of the entrance test questionable. This paper was printed in different sets (A, B and C), with each supposedly with the same questions arranged in a different sequence. However, in one of these sets, ten questions were repeated by mistake and, consequently, another ten questions, which were present in the other sets of the paper, got deleted from this set. </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2>This means that the students who received this defective set of question paper did not get the opportunity of attempting all the questions that the rest of the students got. This clearly made it an unfair competition. </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2>The Jamia Hamdard authorities must explain at the earliest why and how the entire process of the examination got bungled up. They must also inform the students if they are going to declare this entrance test void and hold it afresh. If not, how are they going to evaluate the answer sheets? All parents have the right to seek this information from Jamia Hamdard under the provisions of the RTI Act.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=news vAlign=top colSpan=2></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> |
