RTI Helped me in getting my income tax refund from ITO hyderbad which was pending for almost 2 years

Hello, I have filed Income tax refund for year 2009-2010 in range-12 hyderabad but did not received any inputs from department about my refund progress even after 1.5 yrs. Then i started following with range-12 office hyderabad and after multiple visits to the AYAKAR bhawan hyderabad, i was able to find that my case for refund is to be processed by Range-11 department of AC guards hyderabad and not by range-12 hyderabad and they will transfer my file from range 12 to range 11. Again after waiting for some 2 months, i did not heard anything, i filed for RTI first against RANGE-12 hyderabad. And to my surprise i received a call from Addl.comm. Range 12 and he mentioned that my file will be transferred to range-11 and i should followup case from there. I again filed RTI against range 11 ITO but no response was received. Later i again filed another RTI against range 11 officer of incorrect WARD and he responded to my RTI immediately with exact PIO name to whom i should address RTI for my case. And then i filed my next RTI to this correct PIO officer of range-11 and with in 3 days refund was credited to bank account.
I want to thank RTI for my refund processing along with all concerned officers.
1) RTI is definitely very good and help us in getting response from officers.
2) Only problem is that it is not easy to find correct PIO to whom RTI application should be addressed, as manytimes PIO complete list is not available at concerned department/organization website.

Hi Arpit can you pl pass on your contact details. I am facing the same problem & my refund of last 3 years is still not recieved. Many attempts co-ordianting with Local IT office have failed. I am planning for a RTI. Your help would be appreciated.

You can guide the poster here itself - step by step as to what you did in relation to RTI. Like application format etc.
