Criminal Attack on a RTI activist
Asking information by a RTI activist prove costly when a person asked information from several department. The person attacked and wounded by knife by some persons . A photo published in paper is being uploaded (Hindustan, 26 January,2012 ,page-11, Muzaffarpur edition )

This has become a phenomena now. But it is a criminal case, FIR must be lodged by the Activist and it must be registered. You can also file a complaint under section 18 before Central/State Information Commssion and request for an detailed inquiry into the matter and recommend actions. This power lies with the Commission. CIC has also many times declared that victimisation of RTI Activists will be dealt with iron hands. However the burden lies on the activist to proof that he was being victimized due to filing of RTI appeals only.Sponsorer
