You did not write the name of your deptt. and the kind of information sought and what kind of victimisation you apprehend? People are afraid of RTI users. You need not worry. Nothing of the sort will happen.

Re: experience i work in the police department where we are bound by discipline along the hierarchy and challenging them by way of going in appeal calls for trouble.

Kiran Bedi used RTI when promotion rule was not follwed in her case. Anyway, file RTI in the name of any of your relative. But , better you go yourself. The use of RTI is not any violation of discipline. You still did not write what you intend to know.
