Sometimes it is seen that applicant is faced with some kind of unwanted situation during the process of his RTI application. Is CPIO or SPIO bound to maintain secreacy of the applicant.

I dont think that there is any provision in the Act which requires the PIO to protect the identity of the info seeker. Afterall the whole legislation if for transparency. Where the question of not revealing the identity of the info seeker?

No. The duties of PIO is " to provide information to persons requesting for the information under the Right to Information Act 2005 " only with no other conditions attached.

No need for secrecy of RTI applications or applicants. In fact when you find that a PA is habitually ignoring RTI applications you should ask them to provide certified copies of all RTI applications filed till date and their replies. At times it helps.
