Framing RTI to get infromation from Police station

Dear all,

I want to get information regarding one existing case, FIR is filed in this regard. Police is saying investigation is on but nothing telling about the development. I want to know what they are doing.
That's why i want to file RTI application to get development report from them
Kindly tell me, which items i should ask while framing the RTI, I ma unaware of what kinds of documents are kept by police. Please mention the question regarding this, so as to nothing is left out.

Your little help may help me out to the great extent.

Are you the complainant ?

If yes, you might get information on the development of investigation.

If you are not the complainant, then most probably it will be denied to you under Sec 8(1)(h). You can still file the RTI and try your luck.

Just ask for:

"Certified copies of all "information" related to progress in the case related to FIR............

NOTE: "information" is defined in Sec 2(f) of the RTI Act 2005"

You can get copy of the FIR . Further you may seek action taken in the FIR . But the Investigation / documents related to the FIR may not be provided due to bar of s.8(1)(h) . Once charge-sheet id filed before the court , then the accused will get the same as the Magistrate is bound to provide the same to the accused .

But you should go ahead with the RTI Appl with relevant PIO .
