RTI Rejected I had raised RTI requesting information related to the gold coins which my wife has produced to court as part of proof of gold used for making jewelry. I had requested Bank to provide the certified copies of bills for the mentioned invoice numbers under section 2(i)(a) & 2(j)(II) of RTI for which PIO has rejected showing exemption under section 8(1)(d) and 8(1)(j) of RTI with no public interest involved in my application and also mentioned if not satisfied with the reply I can reach Appellate Authority within 30 days.
In this Scenario when the applicant has clearly mentioned about the dates of invoice and respective branch offices, city of sale which means that the information related to those bills no more stand neither under any privacy of any individual/third party nor stands under commercial confidence, trade secrets where disclosure will harm the competitive position of the third party more over this requested information is more in to public where the applicant is only requesting information to specified data which that bank only can clarify. When this is the case how can the PIO reject this application mentioning above sections of exemption. Also when we are raising any information under any condition (life and liberty/general) thru RTI do we need to mention why we are requesting this information for? To my knowledge there is no need to mention why we are requesting this information please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: RTI Rejected
There is no need top mention any reason for seeking information.Sponsorer
When she has already submitted all the details to the Court (from where you picked up serial numbers, etc.) and if you have doubt about it, you can ask the court to ask her to produce the purchase invoices.
The Bank has correctly denied information under Sec 8(1)(d) and 8(1)(j).
Life and Liberty is clearly not affected in this matter.

Re: RTI Rejected
Hon'ble members. In view of your friend, PIO can not seek the reason of seeking information. According to section 6(2) of R.T.I. Act 2005, an applicant making request for information shall not be required to give any reason for requesting the information or any other personal details, except those that may be necessary for contacting him. I am fully satisfied with the view expressed by senior member Karira Sir. When the paper formed the part of documents of court poceeding then no longer remains private paper but becomes public documents. The sought information will not impede the process of court but it will accelerate it and make the documents more genuine and authentic.
