Need Help: not yet recieved passport

I ( Gouri Kumar Mangapuram) applied for my passport on 5th Feb 2008. I confirm that my data of birth is 15th Nov 1953.

At the time of applying for this passport I did not mention about my previous application which I made in 2006. Unfortunately due to missing of some documents in postal service in my previous application, I could not get my passport at that time.

Because of this, I came to know that my present passport application was held.On hearing this information , I send the penalty of Rs 1000/- along with the details about my previous application.

The DD details of penalty.

DD No : 764874 dated on 12/04/08 issued by Andhra Bank.

But I did not get my passport yet. I visited Regional Passport office,Hyderabad on 7th May 2008 to know the status and accelerate my application. But I came to know that Passport office people did not update about my penalty details .I came to know from postal department that my registered post with the penalty and explanation details has been received by Regional Passport Office at Hyderabad. I made another request by an application to accelerate my passport issue. I tried to call passport office, I could not get any information.

Please help me to get passport at the earliest.

You can file RTI application for the purpose.

Your RTI application has to be as per the Central Govt. RTI rules and fees & addressed to the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO or PIO).

Hello Sir,
I filed an RTI application . I got the same information from CPIO that I have to pay again
Rs 1000/- as penalty and it is mentioned that"it is a final reminder" to me. I am not getting what I have to do now. Just me something what should I do now. I already paid an amount of Rs 1000/. These are the details of my penalty.

I attached these copies also in RTI application. Please suggest me what can I do .

The situation seems to be that either your DD for Rs. 1000.00 is not recieved by them or they have misplaced it somewhere.

Best would be to meet the PRO at the Passport office alongwith the copies of the D/D. Also try to get a "encashment certificate" from the Bank which issued the D/D to show that the amount was actually credited to the account of the Passport office.

Dear Sir,

I did this 4 months back. I went to public grievance and showed the copy of the DD . At that time grievance section people told me that the data about the penalty has not been entered in their records and it will take one week of time after the submission of the application in public grievance. But nothing happened after that. I do not know what is the wrong with passport office people at Hyderabad in this regard. I am so tensed and worried. Please suggest me in this regard.

The only solution at this stage is to revisit the RPO office.

Till now I visited RPO, Hyderabad two times at public grienvance. But it is not use. Every time Grievance people say that my passport will come with in a week of time. But it is no use. What shall I do ?

I think you should pay Rs.1000/- again and get the passport. Thereafter write to the bank about the payment of earlier D.D. If bank has not paid it, U can get refund from bank by completing simple procedure. If the bank has paid D. D. get the certificate giving details of payment to RPO. Claim refund from RPO. If RPO does not refund in 20-25 days file RTI appln.

alternatively gouri kumar can file an rti asking the CPIO the encashment details of the DD in question. in case the CPIO reply that no such DD had been encashed by them, at that point we can produce the encashment certified issued by the bank.

I guess the encashment details from bank are available even without RTI. If that is not available then RTI is always an option.

i meant to say that a RTI can be filed to the CPIO, Passport Office asking the details of DD for Rs. 1,000/- (which was paid as penalty), whether the said DD has been encashed by the Passport Office or not.

in case the Passport Office says no and actually it has been encashed, then at that time we can produce the encashment certificate issued from the bank.

Yes, that would be a good idea.
But I sincerely hope that it's not the case of passport office lying about DD encashment. If it's true, it would be a fraud of worst possible degree by a government office.
