S.S. Angati v SCICApplicant asked Basava Samithi (SOciety) for records under RTI. The Society declined information on the grounds that it was not a PA. The State CIC agreed and applicant filed writ in Karnataka High Court.The court noted that the Society did not recieve public funds, was not owned or controlled by government. The mere fact that the Society was required to be registered under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, was not enough to bring Society under RTI.The court upheld the decision of State CIC that the Society was not a PA under RTI.(Synopsis provided by our member Satish Gupta)
