RTI for Good Governance, a workshop Sunday, 13th May 2012 3.30 pm to 6.30

Right to Information Workshop on Good Governance will be co-organized by RTI Forum Goa and The International Centre Goa on Sunday, 13th May 2012 from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm at The International Centre Goa - Dona Paula.

Adv. Satish Sonak & Mr. Shrikant Barve will be the resource persons for the workshop. There is no registration fee for the workshop and it is open to all.

Following issues will be discussed in this workshop:
- Knowing what is Ordinance, Appellate Authority, Prosecutor, Under Secretary, and other terms related to RTI.
- Knowing that there are over 90 Departments in Goa Govt. Administration governed by certain acts & laws, rules & regulations, etc. Many of these departments also have their own Citizens Charters.
- Knowing and understanding, what type of laws are applicable to each of these government offices as well as to government aided institutions and activities.
- Understanding various procedures followed by various government departments.
- Understanding that RTI activists are not blackmailers but those who use RTI for bringing in Good and Transparent Governance and not for finding the secrets of government functionaries.

In most of the cases, RTI activists work in their individual capacity but not always for individual gains. This workshop will provide an opportunity to such RTI activists to come together, meet regularly and work in an organized manner. The activists can share the information acquired through RTI Act with fellow activist in different ways. Such information may also be used by the group to achieve greater goal of good and transparent governance.
