RTI to clean electoral politics

Hi all

I had filed a PIL against the free colour television promise by the DMK party in the 2006 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, challenging it as both an electoral corrupt practice and also unconstitutional since it is transferring the consolidated funds of India into private assets and therefore ultra vires article 282 of the Constitution of India.

I previously petitioned the Election Commission and they did not even care to reply. but then i sought an explanation through RTI and they promptly gave a very wrong reply. Anyway it is good for me and my case now pending in the Supreme Court.

wait for the outcome. take care
regards
S. Subramaniam Balaji, Advocate, Chennai.

Mr. S Subramaniam

Very useful action taken by you. How come you mention DMK promise in TN while election commission refers to Congress promise in Gujrath? Or this promise was there in both cases but you got reply only after you used RTI in TN case?

Will promise of free electricity to farmers be covered by same? Is electricity a property?
