Penalty reduced to Rs 10,000
The Gujarat High Court has ruled that the SIC imposed Penalty of Rs 25,000 incorrectly since admittedly the PIO had mis-applied a particular exemption clause.
It reduced the penalty amount to Rs 10,000 since the PIO had not provided information even when ordered by the Appellate Authority to do so - an order which the PIO was bound to obey.
