Which property, sir? Assuming it is areal estate like land or flat, if you know the correct survey no etc, you can get municiapl record for nominal fee. No need even to use RTI. But of course this gives you status as per municiple records, which may not be up to date. Will the concerned registrar who records transfer of property give you details if asked as RTI querry? Interesting, but probably it will come under 'tird party information' and would not be available easily. Why not give it a try? I believe the registrar concerns himself only with proper payment of stamp duty, and even that office will not be aware of a 'de facto' owner of a property.     |

Manish, first you file an application along with prescribed for getting Encumbarance Certificate, say ,for the period of 30 years. Wherein you have to mention Survey No. and its sub-division. From EC, you can access the owner it owns, persons who have owned in earlier periods. Thanks |
