CPIO threatened applicant(in writing) to file FIR for filing RTI but no action by CIC.
Relief to applicant: He was permitted to take photo copies of documents, free
of cost, subject to a maximum of 100 pages.
The matter, however, does not end here. It is the grievance of the appellant that
instead of providing requisite information as per law, Shri R. Gangadhar Rai, CPIO, has
been threatening him by way of registration of an FIR against him just because he has
exercised his right under the RTI Act. He also produces Shri Rai’s letter dated 8.4.2011
in this regard which is perused. It is sad and unfortunate that in the penultimate para of
his letter, Shri Rai has threatened the appellant with the registration of an FIR against him. Shri Rao, however, regrets the mistake made by him and he apologies to the appellant. Be that as it may, Shri Rao is firmly advised to be careful, cautious and temperate in responding to the RTI applications in future and avoid using harsh and
impolite language.
Full decision as attachment.
Full credit to Karira Sir.
