Sec 12 of the Act provides for appointing upto 10 Information Commissioners. But the Goverment has appointed only four so far. This is the main cause for pendency with our
CIC also. Before the problem of pendency assumes alarming proportions as in UK, our Government can do well to appoint the remaining six Information Commissioners quickly. If Governement is constrained for funds, they can proportionately cut posts in those Departments of the Government against which most appeals/complaints are preferred to the
CIC! This will make those Departments also wake up.
