hello
i just need to know how one can know about their PF account balance via net. is there any portal for this.
somebody plz help!

There is no reliable way to know EPF account balance over net. Some of the EPFO regional office sites have this facility like the Tamil Nadu and Kerala sites. But many a times they dont work. Even if they work they will give you only the balance as shown in the latest annual accounts slip issued to you. It does not give you a current up-dated balance as on the date you look up in the net. If you already have the accounts slip with you why do you need to look it up in the net? Please also visit my blog - RTI India - taurus

If the balance unknown to the employee how does we confirm the employer remitting the money. I got my PF slip last year for the period of 2004

The Regional Provident Fund Commissioner is duty bound to issue the annual account statements every year. If he has not issued you any statement beyond the year 2003-04, you can file an RTI application asking when the statements for the years 2004-05, 05-06, 06-07 and 2007-08 were due and when they were issued. If not issued, who are responsible and what action has been taken against them.
