Shocking stats: Drug trials have led to 2,193 deaths in 5 years! - www.daily.bhaskar.com

Bhopal: Complications during drug trials, from 2007 to 20012, led to the death of 2,193 persons in the country .This includes 30 deaths in January this year alone.

The data released by Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) under the Right To Information (RTI) Act, said 30 persons died due to serious adverse events caused during drug trials in the country in this January alone.

According to DCGI report from 2007 to 2012, serious adverse events (SAEs) during trials caused a total of 2,193 deaths all over the country. 132 persons died in 2007 followed by 288 in 2008, 637 in 2009, 688 in 2010, 438 in 2011 and 30 in January, 2012.
