MC fails to act against encroacher, complainant claims threat to life - Express India
Ludhiana A Mohr Singh Nagar resident, who had brought to the notice of authorities, encroachment on municipal corporation land in the area, is now claiming a threat to his life from the encroacher.
Parminder Singh Kapoor has even pasted a flex sheet outside his house, in which, he seeks police protection. The complaint on the flex sheet has been addressed to the Punjab DGP.
Kapoor had complained against the encroachment on municipal corporation land, between street number 7 and 8 in Mohr Singh Nagar, where a house has been built. The municipal corporation, despite issuing demolition notices to the encroacher, has so far failed to take any action.
Kapoor had first informed the civic body authorities about the violations but no action was taken.
He then sought information under the Right to Information Act (RTI), on whether the land in question was private property. In its reply, the MC admitted that the land was part of its town planning scheme as per records. The information was provided in May, 2012. The MC then issued a demolish notice to the encroacher but has so far not taken any action. The market value of the land is reportedly nearly Rs 30 lakh.
