emplyment agreement bond

my friend working with a private organization since more than 7 years as and marketing manager and last year one day his management called a confidential meeting at his factory place and keep an agreement bond in his front in undue circumstances with condition that either he has to signed that agreement bond or have to quit from the job on spot due to short period of time and family reponsibility he has singed agreement bond. As per agreement bond he cant joined any competitor company or can start his business or cant run his trading business for the same type of product which is producing by his company otherwise he has to pay appx. 30 times of his monthly salary. Would like to draw your notice here that his company doesn't had any such situation in his front at the time of joining and before working here he was in the same trade and having more than 15 years experience in the same trade, infect when he has joined this company that time his company specially called him and issued him unconditional offer latter and appointment latter.

as now he is so much disturb with his existing company due to all of sudden changed polices and management so he would like to change the job but due to singed agreement bond he is unable to take any step, so please advise the way and solution of this problem and also advise any legal adviser details or form contact who may help him. As per my understanding as per the law today their is no such boded labor policy so plz. advise how could he may take legal steps and free from this signed agreement bond.
