MARGAO: Village Groups of Goa (VGG) have alleged that there was fraud in the employment of former South Goa district collector G P Naikas a government employee as he had failed to submit his birth certificate at the time of employment.Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday, VGG member John Philip Pereira stated that he had procured information under the right to information Act where he was told that the birth certificate of G P Naik was not available with the government. Pereira claimed that submission of a birth certificate was mandatory at the time of joining (the government as an employee)."Under the RTI, I was informed that a copy of the SSCE passing certificate and a copy of service book indicating the date of birth as March 5, 1951, was available," said Pereira, demanding that the allegations be looked into. When TOI contacted Naik who is incidentally retired, he said that he did not see the need to respond to such allegations that were baseless. "Whatever documents were requested by the government were submitted," added Naik.
