Failed MA geography students shown their answer-copies - The Times of India

ALLAHABAD: The third semester students ofMA geography of Allahabad University, who had alleged anomalies in the evaluation, were shown their answer-copies on Thursday. The students were shown the copies in the office of Controller of Examination Prof HS Upadhayay. These students had alleged that almost all students, who have been declared failed in paper IV -- urban and regional planning -- have cracked Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test (NET) while some have qualified JNU and PGT entrance tests. But since they have been failed, they cannot join JNU or avail JRF/NET benefits. The students said those who appeared for the second exam have been awarded very less marks whereas those who have appeared in the same exam as regular students have been awarded marks over 65.The Controller of Examination had earlier shown the answer copies to geography HoD and a teacher of geography department. The copies were shown in the presence of Prof HS Upadhayay, Prof Emeritus of the department of Geography, HN Mishra, representatives of the Proctor and the deputy registrar exam along with the CPIO, RL Vishkarma."These students fell short in answering the specified questions and some of them even used hypothetical names of professors and their theory. Equally bad was their spellings and command over language," said Prof Mishra. The CPIO, AU, said students of BCom (session 2011-12) who had filed RTI application to see their answer copies can view the same on July 27 and 28. The copies would be shown in the office of the Controller of Examination at 2pm. All the applicants should get the letter from CPIO office.
