Querry under RTI Act

Further to my querry posted yesterday, I would like to know (as an example) whether I can ask the CPIO of IIMs or IITs or any similar Institutions to provide me the marks obtained by the students of a particular batch of a course in different subjects?

Can any body provide information as to where the broucher on RTI laws and guidance can be obtained from? A number of urdu knowing citizens of Kolkata and suburbs are requesting me for the broucher.It will be of immense help if some one comes forward and provides the detail on this site or on my private e-mail. Dr Pathak may kindly take interest in this matter and may use his good office for the benefit of public. More over, can RTI application be made in Urdu or Hindi language in West Bengal where...

Searching and surfing thru the various sites on the web I landed on the official website of Indian Air Force.

This is one of the best sites of any Govt. Dept that I have come across in as many days. Having vast and most comprehensive details about the Indian Air Force.

IT contains all the information starting from the RTI Act 2005 The fees and cost, details of the CPIO's.

RTI is mainly for the benefit of COMMON MAN of the country. I happened to get extract of a judgement of hon'ble Supreme Court of India as quoted in decision by National Consumer Forum. I append below the extract for information and use by visitors and members of this portal:

Claiming compensation from the PIO

Today we have read in Times of India that the CIC admitted the claim of the appellant for compensation u/s 19 (8)(b). It is not new. I have already claimed and received a compensation of Rs.2000 from the PIO cum Executive Engineer, HUDA, Faridabad on 9.5.08 for not supplying information within stipulated period of 30 days, which was awarded by the Haryana State Information Commission, Chandigarh. Outstanding EPF dues

During 1973-75 I was employed in Hindustan Engineering Corp, Goregaon,Bombay. Then I joined BHEL, a PSU in New Delhi (But PF controlled from BHEL-Hardwar). I retired from ISG/ BHEL-Bangalore in 2004. During final settlement with BHEL I learnt that in spite of my request my Pf amount has not been transfered from Bombay firm (though BHEL had written for transfer). I am now persuing the matter with EPFO/ CSD-NewDelhi & Bandra (Mumbai).

How to know Provident Fund Status through RTI?

  1. Send ordinary application as per annexture A below.
  2. If you do not get reply within 30-35 days file application under RTI act as per annexure B.
  3. With annexure B, you have to send Indian postal order [IPO] of Rs.10/- in favour of accounts officer, EPFO [or PF Commissioner, EPFO] payable at the place where application is sent.
  4. IPO is available in nearby post office.
  5. With annexure B also attach self-attested photocopy of annexture A, which has not been replied.

JAMMU, Sept 14: State is shortly going to have an information commission but with un-amended section 8, it would be inapt in revealing information with regard to Human Rights Violations, alleged custodial killings, disappearances and details of judicial and magisterial inquiries ordered so far.
