Passport receipt got lost

Dear Dr. Kushal Pathak,

I applied for adding of spouse name & police clearance certificate in the Passport office in Secundrabad , A.P on 29th August 2008 .... & unfortunately lost the receipt on the same day..
My passport was issued from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

After submission of my application, I was told that I will recieve it by post.
Can I get a duplicate receipt easily from the passport office as I don't have my file number with me? And in how many...
