Terror of RTI

Posted 12-20-2009 at 09:00 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
RTI has empowered common to question those officers who were earlier inaccessible to common man. There is no faer of earning the wrath of an officer. I asked a rude Principal of a govt. school about the facility provided to the students of the school. The school was running from 8.00 am to 3.00pm. The Principal himself was found counting the number of fans in each class rooms. The timing was changed from 8.00am to 1.45pm as soon as my application reached. Despite less punishment by the CIC terror...

Favourite Section of RTI Portal

Posted 12-20-2009 at 03:10 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
Dear friends,

One of my very learned friends suggested me to express my views on each and every section of this portal. I generally do it but the area which requires more attention is sometimes under my preference. I thought again and again to this suggestion. Do you consider it a worthy idea? It is like tasting all the menu instead of eating the favourite one.

Thanks for your response.

RTI after four years

Posted 10-14-2009 at 02:26 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
Four year old journey of RTI is considerable. Undoubtedly the Act has a vast scope and better than several other equal acts of the world but has it succeeded completely in checking corruption in govt. sector ? Did it achieve its desired target? It is futile to expect that the act will make the country corruption free overnight. In a country which has about 25% population under BPL category and a large number of people centered...

RTI Act Requires Amendments

Posted 09-07-2009 at 05:39 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
It is now time to bring necessary amendments in RTI Act 2005.I would suggest the following:Please consider.

i) Fees should be scrapped or be allowed to pay by postal stamps.

ii) Strict action against PIOs for not providing information within time limit or providing inaccurate/incomplete/distorted or misleading information.

iii) A lot of expenses on post and other materials are borne by the RTI users. There should be a provision of compensation if the PIO/FAA...

Condition of Jharkhand

Posted 02-28-2009 at 10:54 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
I wanted to send an application under RTI to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand but I did not know his PIO. Therefore I called the secretary of the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand and asked the name PIO. He replied to contact the Home Secretary. I called the Home Secretary and asked the same question but he replied to contact the Under Secretary. I called the Under Secretary and asked the same question. The Under Secretary told me to contact the lower level officers. Thus the whole exercise ended with...

RTI Against Police ?

Posted 01-24-2009 at 10:48 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
Dear Members,
I am sorry to write that people are scared of using RTI against policemen due to possible harrassment by them thereafter. A lot of irregularities can be found in the police department but it goes unchecked. In the next ammendment to this act, such provisions must be evolved to prevent fear in the minds of the people in using RTI against police department.
Thanks

RTI fees a Hinderance

Posted 01-19-2009 at 05:58 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
A token fee of Rs 10/ as RTI fees causes a lot of inconviences to RTI users. In fact it mars the charm of RTI in the sense that shrewd PIOs take chance to return the application by saying to change the name accout officers as their department has no such post. RTI users feel cheated. I have come to know that this fees is going to be scrapped in the coming ammendment to this act. But the sooner, the better.

Thanks

Special Facility for Women RTI Users.

Posted 12-18-2008 at 11:44 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
Wemen get special concession in Income Tax and other areas of government. Sometimes jobs/seats are reserved for women in different departments of the govt. In the same way, special facility or provisions be made for women RTI users so that their share in this particular field can be increased. Speedy trail for the cases of women applicants be made and RTI fees should be abolished for them.

I would like to seek the opinions of our esteemed members in this regard also.
Thanks....

Contribute to RTI

Posted 12-12-2008 at 09:22 PM by Dr. M. Faiyazuddin
The success of RTI depends upon the dedicated citizens of the nation like Dr. Kushal.
Let us take a vow to have the same kind of dream as Dr. Kushal has.Only then we can think to reform India to the desired level. Our little contribution in the field of RTI can work wonders. We should use RTI and help fellow citizens to make maximum use of it.
Thanks.
