  1. RTI after four years

    by , 10-14-2009 at 02:26 PM
Four year old journey of RTI is considerable. Undoubtedly the Act has a vast scope and better than several other equal acts of the world but has it succeeded completely in checking corruption in govt. sector ? Did it achieve its desired target? 6. PIO is required to provide justification for exemption claimed under S.8 of RTI Act

    by , 09-27-2009 at 05:57 PM
CPIO/PIOs are required to provide justification as to how the examptions claimed by them are applicatible. Thereofre merely quoting the provisions and refusing the information would be wilful denial of the information.

CIC in the matter of Dhananjay Tripathi v/s. Banaras Hindu University Dt. 07-07-2006 (PDF attached /or visit here )has hold as under

  7. RTI Act-2005 is being treated as a Paper Tiger

    by , 09-21-2009 at 02:46 PM

  9. RTI Act Requires Amendments

    by , 09-07-2009 at 05:39 PM
It is now time to bring necessary amendments in RTI Act 2005.I would suggest the following:Please consider.

    i) Fees should be scrapped or be allowed to pay by postal stamps.

ii) Strict action against PIOs for not providing information within time limit or providing inaccurate/incomplete/distorted or misleading information.

iii) A lot of expenses on post and other materials are borne by the RTI users. There should be a provision of compensation if the PIO/FAA ...
