Of late, there have been many cases of death by road accidents or mishaps on school premises. Often, compensation is announced to the families of the deceased.
Similarly, when the students are badly injured they are offered compensation. However, with all the red tape mechanism it is a while before the family receives the money. If group insurance is adopted by the school authorities the trauma caused by delay of securing the much needed funds may be reduced. Now the question is about what will the govt. run schools do?
Many students study in govt. aided private schools but belong to the middle-class or lower middle-class and hospitalisation, CTscan, other lab tests following an accident are what their families cannot afford. If children are the future of India, their welfare has to be looked at from all directions.
